Review: The Farthest Edge by Kristen Ashley

Whew! This was another exciting and very hot addition to the Honey series by Kristen Ashley. I’m not even kidding about the “hot” factor. I love Kristen’s writing, as I’ve said before, but when she mixes it up and jumps into the BDSM world, then I’m definitely one happy girl. Now I realize that this type of books isn’t for everybody and that’s okay. But for me, I’m loving the fact that she decided to try something new to her.

If you read The Deep End, you saw a bit of Evangeline and know what happened to her to make her step away from a world that was her world. A life changing moment that many people would have to think twice about returning. But her friends never gave up on her. They kept pushing until they found the right button and she was done for.

Branch has a past that no one will ever know about. A past that has changed him forever. He’s hard and unflinching and quite a force. And he doesn’t like to open himself up to others, at the risk of his past messing up their future. He also has needs, just like everyone else, but because of his past, he goes about fulfilling those needs in all the wrong ways. That is until a little firecracker takes it upon herself to flip his world upside down, tear his walls to pieces and push him to the farthest edge right into her open arms.

This is an interconnected standalone, so you don’t have to read The Deep End, but I highly recommend you do. Again, this book is nothing like her usual books. The Farthest Edge will have you sweating and squirming and wishing for your spouse or significant other. Lots of sexy times. LOTS. But also is has a whole lotta sweet. Friends that don’t give up on each other and lovers that stand by and help life you up, and hold you up, when you need it the most. I really enjoy this world. I look forward to more from it.

Review: The Deep End by Kristen Ashley

01-de So many things are running through my head. First off, don’t let that cover fool ya. This may be a Kristen Ashley book, but it’s nothing like you’ve read before. So you’re expecting a nice sweet, and somewhat angst filled, romance, you’re going to be shocked. And if you’re like me, and like your romances a bit on the racy side, then this will be very nice surprise. Very nice. This had all the KA goodness but with a hefty dose of hot sauce.

SYNOPSIS
Enter a decadent sensual world where gorgeous alpha males are pleasure slaves committed to fulfilling a woman’s every desire. At the elite Honey club, no boundary will be left untested, and one’s darkest desires will become a sensual reality.

Olivier isn’t sure what he’s gotten himself into when he joins the Honey Club, only that a dark part of him craves the lifestyle offered by this secret, exclusive club.

When Amèlie invites Olivier to surrender, she pushes him to explore his deepest desires as a submissive. As they grow closer and find themselves falling harder than either of them anticipated, the truth about Olivier’s past could threaten the budding relationship they both long for.

Olly is this super sexy firefighter, who is also a alpha sub. I’ve never heard of those before, so it was rather eye opening. Here’s this super alpha guy needing a woman to decide his fate. I kinda liked that.

“You were searching for me.”

I’ll admit, I love Kristen Ashley something fierce, but when I heard she was writing an erotic series, I was nervous. Not everyone can pull it off without it being over the top extreme. Boy, was I wrong to even question it. This girl can write. The Deep End was hot. Plain and simple. In the beginning, their scenes seemed a little bit forced. They didn’t know each other, so the connection wasn’t there yet. But it didn’t take long for them to find that link, and once they did, there was heat. I’m talking full blown, four alarm fire. I needed to step away a few times. I gotta be honest, I needed to take a cold shower. This book was freaking hot. Now don’t get me wrong, they were’ the perfect couple. They had their flaws. But once they learned what each other truly needed out of this relationship, they found the balance and all was well.

As with all KA stories, the side characters are a whole other story. They bring much needed friendships and experiences to this story. I am looking forward to future Honey stories. I already know who I’m hoping for. I don’t normally review these intense BDSM stories, but this book was so much more than that.

Review: Wicked Need by Sawyer Bennett

01 wicked Well, if you’re looking for a super sexy book, with no holds barred BDSM scenes, then THIS is the book for you.

After Cat’s husband dies, she is told he left her nothing. After living the horrible life she’s lead, it’s hard for her to trust anyone. She has made some very bad decisions, just to stay a float, but now that everything is gone, she’s not sure how she’s going to survive. What she experienced, I wouldn’t wish that on my enemies. Horrible.

Enter, Rand, the part time fantasy maker and The Silo. He decides to help Cat out, for no other reason than he’s just a nice guy. Once he finds out her full story, he is determined to help her realize that none of her past is her fault. When I read his POV, I was quite happy to see how big his heart is. He brought a lot of emotion without all the tears. It was very nice to see.

Since they’ve been together a time or two, at The Silo, they decide to play around and soon they realize that what they have is more than just a fun. This actually could be real.

I knew Rand was a great guy. He’s super sexy and knows how to make a girl feel loved. I love the fact that he went out of his way, MILES out of his way, just to find some key puzzle pieces that were missing in her life.

And of course this had a hefty dose of sauce. Very HOT sauce. The kind that makes you step away and find your significant other. Whew! I can’t wait until the next one!!

Review: Grey by EL James

01 grey Let me start out by saying I haven’t read Fifty Shades in over 3 years. I read them before the hype in 2012, so I had forgotten many of the smaller points. I’ve seen the movie twice, so I have the gist, but still I missed a lot. I was actually planning a doing a reread during my vacation next week. That all changed when EL James announced she was releasing a book from Christian’s POV. I was debating on rereading still, but decided on going in fresh. Let me tell you, I am so glad I did!! She gave us what we wanted, and I couldn’t be happier.

Grey is a retelling of Fifty Shades of Grey. A retelling. This means you will get a lot of the same scenes and even the same conversations. And let’s not forget those fun emails. SHOUTY CAPS and Twitchy Palms. But the best part is now you get to see what goes on in his head. I like that. I’m a girl. I know how we think, but I have no clue how the male mind thinks. Christian Grey is NOT your typical male. So to have glimpse into his brain is very intriguing. I liked his vulnerability. I liked the way he was so unsure of himself. Every time someone would gaze at him or he would look in a mirror, you saw his reaction and how he felt about himself. It was sad at times, yes. He had a rough beginning, so his self esteem isn’t where it should be.

I was completely lost in his feelings for Ana. He adored her. He wanted to be the one for her. His feelings were overwhelming to him. He couldn’t seem to wrap his head around the fact that she was willing to be with him, for love and no ulterior motive.

I went back and forth between listening and reading, and let me tell you, if you have the extra audible credit, get it. Zachary Webber does a fantastic job as Christian. I mean, holy crap, that was HOT!!! Yes, some parts were super sexy and I needed a minute to compose myself, in public, when I was grocery shopping. Word to wise, don’t listen while grocery shopping, unless you wanna end up standing in the frozen food section in front of an open door, for a few minutes. But no only are sexy parts super sexy, the sad and emotional parts will tug at your heart. His dreams, and memories of the past, are what make him who he is, and when you hear them, it’s way worse than reading them. So, I’m warning you now.

She’s mine. She’s heaven.

My most favorite parts of this book were the smiles and strange glances from those around Christian. They knew what was going on with him, even before he did. He’s so clueless, it’s hilarious. He had no idea why they kept looking at him like that. I was smiling right along with them.

I’ve come alive since I’ve know her. These last few weeks have been the most exciting, the most unpredictable, the most fascinating in my life. I’ve been enticed from my monochrome world into one rich with color-and yet she can’t be what I need.

Since this is a retelling from just the first book, you know how it ends. It’s not pretty, but it makes me even more excited for my vacation reread. I look forward to reconnect and remember how he changes and grows.

Thank you, EL James, for listening to us die hards and giving us what we begged for. Now I’m crossing my fingers that she decides to give us the rest of the books also, and perhaps a prologue from 10 years later. Crossing my fingers.

New Releases for October 1, 2013

I can’t believe it’s October already!! But I love the Fall weather. It’s perfect for cuddling up in a blanket, with a cup of mint tea and my kindle.

I can’t believe how many new releases come out this month. I am almost afraid to see how low my Amazon account will dwindle down to. So maybe if I only look at it week by week it won’t be so bad….maybe.

Since it’s the first of the month, that means new $2.99 book deals. Here is the link.

And here are a few that some of us are waiting for:

17386062
Torn: The Connections Series, #2
I’ve read Connected, the first one, and it left us hanging with a cliffy. So I am so anxious to read this! It has a hot rocker. What more can we ask for? 🙂 This will complete the duet. I’m so glad to here it’s only a two book set. All these trilogies kill me!!

17910355
Midnight’s Temptation (Dark Warriors)
I LOVE this series!! I was bamboozled into reading the first book of this series. And ever since then. I was completely addicted. If you like druids and fea, with a smidgen of romance thrown it, you’ll like this series.

16205936
Love and Let Die (Masters and Mercenaries)
I have been waiting very impatiently for this one. I’m a sucker for BDSM books. This book has that, and an extra dose of suspense. Perfect combination.

18269659
The Wager: The Bet series: Book 2
I totally loved this book!! Funny and emotional. I seriously was cracking up. But there’s one scene that had me tearing up. So sweet.

“Love isn’t effortless; it hurts. When I watch you my chest feels like it’s going to explode, when you touch me I feel it everywhere, when you breathe I hold my breath until you exhale. Love is hell, it’s torture, it drives a man insane, and it’s the scariest thing I’ve ever felt. I feel like I just jumped into a burning building…but Char, you’re my water. I need to know one thing.”
“What?” She whispered.
“Will you come to my rescue?”

I know, right?!?! Here’s the link to my review.

Red Hill

If you’ve read Beautiful Disaster, and loved it, you should try this one as well. I was pleasantly surprised with this book. I’m not a fan of zombies, but this book threw me for a loop. I figured if I loved BD, I would love this one as well. I was right. 🙂 Here is the link to my review.

18300604
Love and Lists (Chocoholics)
If you haven’t read Tara Sivec’s Chocolate Lovers series, you must do that first!! This is the spin off series. SO technically you don’t NEED to read the others first, but you’d be missing out on a whole lotta funny. And who doesn’t need funny in their lives??

17703444
Possession: A Novel of the Fallen Angels
This is another paranormal romance series from J.R.Ward. I’ve only read her Black Dagger Brotherhood, but I have the first book, in this series, sitting patiently on my kindle. Hopefully one of these days, I’ll get to it.

17930773
Found in You (Fixed)
I’m dying to read this trilogy! I will admit, I only bought it because of the cover. I’m shallow like that. I’m hoping to get to these sometime this month also. The first book, Fixed on You (The Fixed Trilogy), didn’t end on a cliffy. So that makes me feel a lot better.

17465453
The Signature of All Things: A Novel
A novel about desire, ambition, and the thirst for knowledge, from author of Eat, Pray, Love and Committed. I’m finding myself drawn to historical fiction lately. This sounds like something I may have to squeeze in. 🙂
