Review: Denial by Lisa Renee Jones

01 den IT’S ELLA’S BOOK!!!!!!

Talk about adrenaline pumping!! I had a hunch that Ella wasn’t in for a simple trip overseas. And boy was I right!!

Ella wakes up in a hospital, in Italy, knowing nothing. She doesn’t even remember her own name! All she knows is that there’s a beautiful man watching her and wanting to help her. I can’t even imagine waking up and not knowing who I was or why I’m in a foreign country. But seeing as she’s all alone, Ella has no other choice but to trust him.

With Kayden’s help, bits and pieces of her memory slowly start to come back. But with these memories comes the realization that she has made some very bad choices and befriended some very evil people. The crazy thing is that she feels this insane attraction to Kayden and wants to trust him to help her, but what if he’s one of those people?

My word, just when you think you know what’s going to happen, the rug gets pulled out from under you. Every time Ella had a flashback I was hoping for a some answers, but all we got were more questions. This is a fantastic start to another thrilling and exciting series for Lisa Renee Jones.

Denial can be read without reading the Inside Out series, but I highly recommend you read that series as well. It was also get your blood pumping and your heart racing.

Review and Blog Tour: After Midnight, by Serena Bell

1467266_498923863556906_140574012_n

I really enjoyed all three of these novellas. They were the perfect combination of saucy and sweet. I always seem to read a ton of Christmas books during November and December. This novella was a nice change of pace, since it was set around New Year’s instead.

The clock is ticking down to midnight on New Year’s Eve, and all Nora Hart and Miles Shephard can think about is kissing each other—even though they met just minutes before. Then, as fast as Miles enters Nora’s life, he’s gone… and she never even gets the name of the man she thinks might just be “the one.” One year later, Nora and Miles are reunited. The chemistry between them is just as strong as they remember. But Miles broke her heart once before—and this time around, Nora’s not sure whether she can give love a second chance.

AFTER MIDNIGHT – Excerpt from Chapter 1

December 31.
11:41.
11:42.
11:43.
At this rate, it would never be midnight, and Miles Shepard would never say a permanent good night to this sadistic son-of-a-bitch year.
He stuck his phone back in his pocket and let his eyes wander over the party. They were in someone’s twenty-second-floor condo, all brushed nickel and rice paper lamps and screens and edgy, modern furniture. Well-dressed Bostonians—they’d left their Uggs and Pats jerseys and twenty-year-old Sox caps homes tonight—monitored TVs tuned to network coverage of New Year’s events in various U.S. and world cities. The collective effect of an apartment bedecked with garlands of black and white streamers and metallic silver balloons, full of women in cocktail dresses and sparkly tops and ass-hugging jeans, was—well, if it hadn’t quite carved through the numbness that had been Miles’s constant companion for the last few weeks, it had at least chipped into it.
His childhood friend Owen was talking to a tall blonde in high-heeled boots, skin-tight silver pants, and a black velvet tunic. She towered over him, but it didn’t appear to intimidate Owen in the slightest. Owen grinned and told the blonde something with his usual complement of hand gestures, and she smiled back and dipped her head.
Owen was one of those guys with mysterious appeal—he was thin to the point of near scrawniness, with a head of hair that was as unruly as a yellow dandelion, but women found him easy to talk to. Miles guessed that a month ago, you could have said the same about him. These days, Miles wasn’t talking much, so if anyone was saying anything about him tonight, it was, “What’s up with the block of stone in the corner?”
The thing was, Miles knew Owen had his back. If anyone trash talked Miles, Owen would be ready with a slapdown. When Miles had called him last week to say he needed to get the hell out of Cleveland and had no place to go, Owen had picked him up at Logan airport, opened his condo to Miles, taken Miles to his sister’s house in Newton for Christmas, and otherwise tried to convince Miles his world hadn’t ended. Like maybe it was in some kind of weird suspended animation and at some point they’d unfreeze Miles and let him have another chance at it.
So for Owen, Miles would endure this party, even if it stayed 11:44 forever, like some punishment straight from the hyper-imaginative Greek gods.
A shriek cut through the hectic bounce of “Come on Eileen” and he looked up to see a woman dancing her heart out. He definitely wasn’t completely numb because his gaze fastened on the jiggle of her breasts under her shiny black tank top. Blood didn’t exactly rush south—it moved thickly through his bloodstream—but at least it was moving. Those were some awesome breasts, and he didn’t only mean awesome-cool—he meant awesome in its original awe-inspiring sense. They were the size and firmness that typically had to be purchased, but he knew real when it danced, and those were one hundred percent real.
His eyes traveled upwards and—whoops!—met hers. She’d been watching him stare at her breasts like an eleven-year-old unschooled horny boy. He made a wry apologetic face, and she laughed. Man, she was pretty, and not in a cover-of-a-magazine standard-issue way. She had strawberry blond hair cropped pixie short, an adorable, mobile face, elfin ears and a long, skinny nose. He didn’t usually go for short hair, but it worked on her, probably because the rest of her was so indubitably female.
And now she was dancing and holding his gaze and his face got hot as his blood picked up pace and got serious about things. His gut clenched, his dick was heavy now, and she was moving for him. Still holding his gaze. The way she danced, it wasn’t sexual, not really. It was just uninhibited. Kind of—joyful. She had this grin on her face that was nine-tenths of what made her so pretty. Most people never looked that happy about what they were doing.
He wanted to cross the floor and—
And what? And proposition some woman he’d never met before in a city that wasn’t his when his life was in knots?
Yeah. Brilliant idea.
He broke the connection, turned away. He headed for the food table, which must have been catered because this was no half-assed assortment of stuff people had scavenged from their pantries. There was a ham whose smoky flavor was addictive—Miles had eaten way more than his fair share an hour ago—and a cheese assortment that had probably cost several hundred dollars by itself. The dip-and-veggies setup was a work of art, not a grocery-store plastic-tray affair. Between the platters, bouquets of mylar balloons urged him to have a Happy New Year’s. He frowned at them.

You will love all three of these stories. I honestly fell in love with the cover, even before I knew who was writing in it. I mean, seriously, look at this cover.

Review: Infinite Possibilities, by Lisa Renee Jones

“You are infinitely mine.”

OK. So if you haven’t read Escaping Reality, stop right here and go read it first. I’ll wait…..

Done? Good. This book starts off right where ER left us. Amy just left Liam and is on the run trying to figure out what happened to her family. She doesn’t fully trust him, even though she’s be alone for so long and was hoping she could trust, but that’s not what happens.

So she tries to hide and keep moving so Liam, and whoever else, can’t find her. But he is one determined man and will do anything to find her.

“Run to me, not from me.”

He finds her eventually, only to lose her after a major twist in the story. I honestly never saw this coming. But Liam won’t give up. He is out to prove to her that she is everything to him and that he needs her just as much as she needs him.

She starts to have more and more flashbacks, which give a glimpse on some of the people from her past. She learns that the answers to many of her questions, were right in front of her, but her brain blocked them. But as she learns more about her family, she finds more unanswered questions.

But as the puzzle pieces started to be put back together and her life may actually start over, she still faces guilt over the deaths of her family, even though it wasn’t her fault. That is the reason she can’t move on. She knows there’s more to them and she doesn’t want Liam involved. It could lead to his death and she’s had enough death in her life. She can’t survive anymore. But that man is stubborn and shows her that she is his and he will always be there for her.

“When our eyes met in that airport, I saw another lost soul. And baby, you will never be alone again.”

I was so hoping that this would wrap up Amy’s story, but it didn’t. I understand why it can’t. The next book will be about the twist. And what a twist it was. And I’ll say it again. Never.saw.it.coming!! And that leads to the craziest epilogue. I want the next book NOW!!!

New releases for November 12, 2013

I’m actually quite happy with the low amount of books this week. I can’t keep up with all the past ones I’ve purchased. It’s nice to have a break. The funny thing is that the first two were released yesterday!

17840487Working It: A Love by Design Novel
I can’t wait to read this book! I’m saving it for my birthday treat. I plan on doing nothing but read, and this is the first book I’m starting with. I’ve really enjoyed all of Kendall’s books, so I know I’ll enjoy this as well.

After the last book, Escaping Reality, left us with a cliffy, I am dying to read this book as well. So don’t even look for me tomorrow. I’m gonna be busy. 🙂

17628631 Plain Peace (A Daughters of the Promise Novel)
And while this may not seem like my normal read, I’ve read the first 5 books in the Daughters of Promise series. This is #6. So I know I’ll be reading it as well. I sometimes enjoy the simpleness of the Amish life and reading about it gives me a glimpse into it.

I must say, I am really enjoying this series. I honestly don’t know if this is the last, or not. It ended, and yet it didn’t. But Chris and Sara’s story ended….sorta. I know it say trilogy, there is no way LRJ can leave us hanging like this!!

OK, after I typed all this out, Ms Jones posted on Facebook this: 4 is the trial and it is in Sara’s POV — you get final answers to Rebecca, Ava, more Rico, and yes ….. and Chris and Sara face this all together. Mark must face the trial and Crystal might show up:)

Book 5
Mark’s POV and you will know by the end of 4 where it’s going

Spinoff Series

Ella! Can’t wait. I’ve had this planned FOREVER– COMPLETE different story line

It takes place the same day as Being Me ended. Chris is leaving for Paris and he gave Sara the option of going with him or not.

She goes.

Chris tells her that only in Paris will she find out all of his secrets. But he warns her that only he will tell her. She should listen to no one else. And believe me, there are plenty of people that are trying to tell her who he really is. She falls into too many traps and believes too many wrong things. But Chris brings her back and show her who he really is.

I kinda had a feeling his past would creep up, and I was right. Sara is confronted with women who helped him when he needed pain and she’s trying to believe that he doesn’t need it anymore. But it’s really hard believing that when it’s in her face since they showed up.

They are also trying to find Ella, which turns out harder than she ever imagined. There is a side of her friend that she never expected.

Ava has turned the tables on Sara and is trying to blame her for Rebecca’s death. Chris, with the help of Mark, are trying to get it all straightened out.

The twists and turns this book had, made me a wreck.

And don’t get me started on the Epilogue….. I screamed. Not my proudest moment. After reading that, I realized there HAS to be another book. There just has too…….

I received this ARC for my honest opinion. And my opinion is that it was awesome! And you must pre order it.

Review: The Master Undone, by Lisa Renee Jones

Warning!!! SPOILER ALERT!!!You must not read this unless you read Being Me. This is a novella that takes place a day after Being Me ends.

I positively LOVED seeing Mark, Mr. In control all the time, not in control. 🙂

When he meets Crystal, the new sales rep for Riptide, she give him a run for his money. She doesn’t back down at all. He doesn’t know how to deal with that and he is OK with that. Part of him wants her to take control, but the other 95% doesn’t.

It’s a very quick read, 40 pages, so there’s not much to say. Mark is one tough cookie and doesn’t wanna show weakness, but somehow Crystal creeps in and slowly shows him that the loss of control isn’t weakness.

It ends quite suddenly and now I’m dying to see what comes next!!!

Review: Being Me, by Lisa Renee Jones

15839315
I had IF I Were You for a few months, but never read it. I thought it was gonna be like 50 Shades, so I wasn’t in a rush. Then I received an ARC of Being Me. So I figured I Had to give it a shot. And boy was I surprised!! I really had no idea what the story was about. I don’t like reading book reviews or descriptions, cuz they tell me too much. So I was totally and completely shocked!!

The first book I was trying to figure out what was gonna happen. I had to give up. I had no idea what was going on. Just when I thought I knew, I was slapped in the face. The sexual tension between the characters was awesome.

And to top it off, THERE WAS A CLIFFHANGER!!!! I screamed at the end. If I didn’t have the next one to read, I think I would’ve just died right there.

The second book was WAY more intense than the first. It had everything I love in it, sex, emotion, love, and a great deal of angst. Perfect!

Sara is still obsessed with Rebecca’s journals and starts to learn things about herself, just from reading them. You see a bit of her past and why she’s the way she is.

Her relationship with Chris, the super sexy artist, is smokin’ HOT. The scenes are so filled with sauce, I was feeling the emotion. The ways he takes her……*fans face* You see a little bit more of what makes Chris tick. But he is so complex we’ve only scratched the surface.

Her boss, is still sexy, but she thinks he knows more about Rebecca than he lets on. He also tries to help her in ways that muddle up her perception of him.

The twists and turns this book makes, was so wild I could barely keep up. The last 25% of the book was so shocking all the way around. I never saw it coming. But in the end it starts to make sense.

I can’t wait to read the last installment. I just have to know how they all continue on with their super screwed up lives. 🙂

After I read this, the author released Rebecca’s journals, which are in ebook form only. They take place between book 1 and 2. I highly recommend reading them also. It adds way more to the story.

Review: Escaping Reality(The Secret Life of Amy Bensen #1), by Lisa Renee Jones

Cliffhanger??!! I hate cliffhangers!!!!!

So, now I’m not sure what to write. Cliffhangers throw me off…

OK, here goes…..

Amy is running from something or someone. Not sure what exactly. She doesn’t even know. She has little money and no one to help her, really. But she meets this handsome stranger on the plane to her next destination and her life seems to flip around. She falls for him, and him for her.

Liam is your typical controlling alpha male. Their attraction is so fast, I got whiplash. She knows she shouldn’t be with him, cuz she can’t be truthful about her past, and shouldn’t get close to anybody, but she doesn’t seem to care. His past, however, seems strangely familiar, but she can’t quite figure out why.

The people around her seem to be hiding things as well, but I can’t figure out what.

My thoughts are all over the place on this book. I’m not even sure what to write. Sometimes I wanna smack Amy and other times I wanna hold her.

Don’t get me started on the ending. I was shocked and yet not. I gotta know what happens!!!! I will be getting the next one.

See?? I told you cliffhangers throw me off. I can’t wrap my head around this one.

I received this ARC for an honest review.
